Let's be honest. You can be as purist as you like but if you're on your holiday of the year and the rivers are up and coloured you're not going to do without a fish, are you? We've all faced conditions where the only thing to do is to get your spinning rod out and work a lure or a bait. Times were when the whole process was something of a grizzly one: reels weren't up to much and rods were distinctly heavy and lifeless and killed any enjoyment in the process. Not so with the Greys' range. All four series' offer quite different qualities: superb design, build and a responsive feel that will make you enjoy what you are doing. Okay, you're not curling out an effortless forty-yard Spey cast but you're still having fun, so who cares? And spinning itself is no longer the restricted sport it once was. Now it is multi-dimensional. You might want to use traditional Devons or spoons but you can add the Flying C's, the whole Rapala range, rubber jigs (which are making so much of an impact in Europe and America) worming, prawning and shrimping or flicking little plugs about in jerk bait fashion. There's skill to all of these methods and a great deal of fun as well.
